Rochelle Walensky is an American physician-scientist who is the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Rochelle Paula Bersoff, the daughter of Jewish parents Edward Bersoff and Carol Bersoff-Bernstein, was born Rochelle Walensky in Peabody, Massachusetts. Potomac, Maryland, was where she was raised.

In 1987, Walensky completed his high school education at Winston Churchill High School. Washington University in St. Louis awarded Walensky a B.A. in biochemistry and molecular biology in 1991.

She graduated with an M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 1995. She received her internal medicine training at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1995 to 1998.

The Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program then accepted Walensky as a fellow. Her MPH in clinical effectiveness was conferred by the Harvard School of Public Health in 2001.
