Katya Adler is a British journalist who has been serving as the BBC’s Europe editor since 2014.

Michal Katya Adler was born on May 3, 1972, in London, United Kingdom. She was born to parents of German origin. She attended South Hampstead High School and then studied German and Italian at the University of Bristol.

Katya Adler graduated in 1995. She was the president of the political society and started its magazine while at university. She worked for The Times and then the Mondial Congress, an organiser of International Congresses. She also served as a correspondent for Austrian national public broadcaster ORF in late 1995.

Katya Adler joined the BBC in Vienna in 1998. She was appointed the BBC’s Europe editor in April 2014. She later became one of the four presenters of a BBC podcast covering Brexit, Brexitcast in June 2017. Katya Adler was awarded honorary doctorates from Bristol University (LL.D) and the University of London (D.Lit) in July 2017.

Katya Adler was also awarded the Charles Wheeler award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism in 2019. A recipient of many awards, she received the Broadcast Journalist of the Year 2018 award at the PSA (Political Studies Association), Broadcast Journalist of the Year 2019 by the London Press Club, as well as the Listeners Choice Award at the British Podcast awards 2019 for the Brexitcast podcast.

Katya Adler is married with has three children. Politico magazine named her as one of Brussels top 20 most influential women in 2017. She also made the 2019 list in the Evening Standard as one of London’s most influential people.
